About herpes zoster
Herpes zoster (HZ) is caused by varicella zoster virus (VZV). Primary infection with this virus first causes chickenpox, and then the virus spreads from the site of skin damage and lurks in the cranial ganglia, dorsal root ganglia, and autonomic ganglia of the nerve axis. As the body ages or experiences a decrease in resistance due to certain stimuli, VZV can be reactivated and cause shingles. The population is generally susceptible to VZV, and serological evidence shows that the adult VZV infection rate is over 90%, so there is a general possibility of contracting shingles in the population. Herpes zoster can occur at any age, and its incidence significantly increases with age. Herpes zoster not only affects the physical and mental health of patients, leading to a decrease in their quality of life, but also brings serious disease burden and public health problems to families and society.
Regarding the recombinant herpes zoster vaccine (CHO cells)
The recombinant herpes zoster vaccine (CHO cells) independently developed by our company adopts the gE protein sequence with independent intellectual property rights, retains the dominant antigen epitope, and innovatively carries a dual adjuvant system, which can effectively stimulate VZV specific immune response. Preclinical research data shows that the vaccine can trigger stronger cell-mediated immune responses in animal models, indicating that it may have stronger immunogenicity. In addition, the high expression level of antigen protein in this vaccine can help reduce industrial production costs. If the vaccine is successfully approved for market, it will effectively improve the current supply status of herpes zoster vaccines, provide the public with cost-effective vaccination options, and strengthen the company's competitive advantage in the vaccine field.
